National Policies and Costed Plans

For over 30 years ECOPSIS has advised on water and sanitation policy. Bringing optimum technical knowledge and strong facilitation skills, we identify policy challenges and build national consensus and alignment with international commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on climate change. We support consultations on funding strategies, and prepare costed plans to achieve sector policy objectives for infrastructure development and institutional and regulations strengthening.

Review of the National Sanitation Policy, Strategy and Investment Plan

Ghana | Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources

Supported the government of Ghana with revising its national policy for sanitation (liquid and solid waste). The revision process was based on a detailed assessment of services at national and district levels. The revised policy took into account the evolving context of impacts on sanitation services such as climate-hazards. The policy was drafted to reflect Ghana’s development objectives and international commitments such as the Paris Agreement on climate change and biodiversity. We also supported the preparation of a detailed strategic investment and guidelines for local level planning were revised.

Development of a Costed Roadmap to Eliminate Open Defecation by 2030

Mozambique | UNICEF

Developed a Costed Roadmap for sanitation, focusing on rural and semi-urban areas. The Roadmap is a strategic tool for the sector as it sets specific targets, implementation approaches and activities with an estimate of the financial requirements for achieving these. Consequently, the Costed Roadmap can play a key role in mobilising resources for the rural sanitation sector.
